Heather cottage is a unique little gem of a place, with its own gateway entrance parking area and beautifully sunny garden full of indigenous plants such as ferns, heathers, mosses, wisteria honeysuckle and ivy... Two small stone built ponds add beautifully to the Dartmoor theme of the gardens.
Just 5 minutes walk and you can be on Dartmoor. It is situated on the old tramway, now a leafy footpath that takes you directly to the moor from four separate points...
Or to the well known railway station with its steam trains, onto the granite way cycle path, with miles of off road cycling or on route to Eastlake farm where you can trek out onto the moor on a horse.
Heather cottage is surrounded by its own garden trees and our large private garden. At Heather cottage you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside but it is only 8 minutes walk (along the wooded parkland paths) to Okehampton centre.
The town itself has all the usual shops and services of any small market town, but also boasts a Waitrose, the local arts Gallery exhibiting local artworks, auction rooms, our new cinema, a museum, the castle, swimming pool, 2 golf courses, sports centre, mountain bike courses through the woods, and the granite way cycle path... Heather cottage has a large light and modern kitchen, a comfortable sitting/dining room area with a practical gas ‘wood burner’ stove, settee and dining table, it has a high ceiling Victorian styled bedroom with click and zip beds which means it can be a real double bed or two large comfortable singles and a brand new shower room that is light bright and modern. Heather cottage is also wireless connected for so if you can’t leave your work behind you can connect from the cottage and garden!
