England is a great place for that well deserved holiday and Devon offers much more variety than most counties when it comes to lovely scenery and a plethora of holiday attractions. It has two National Parks for a start - Dartmoor and Exmoor - where stunning and unique landscapes are being carefully conserved. There are two coastlines with huge sandy beaches, rocky coves, high cliffs and picturesque fishing villages. The seaside towns offer an enormous amount of choice, depending on whether you want to relax in a deck chair or even do some surfing. The patchwork of meadows on gentle hillsides is scattered with pretty thatch and cob cottages, villages and old market towns. History is all around, especially the maritime past that is so much a feature of Devon's two largest cities - Exeter its capital and Plymouth its maritime centre. So if you want a historical sightseeing holiday you can do no better than a Devon holiday cottage. |
